WCU to host "Creating Businesses that Rock" Sept. 19
9/2/2008 - Western Carolina University will host “Creating Businesses that Rock,” as part of the Educational Outreach Business Lunch Series, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in Room 143 of the Cordelia Camp Building.
Todd B. Morse, former president and general manager of Chimney Rock Park, will share techniques on transforming a business culture and adopting techniques to support service throughout any organization.
Participants will learn the importance of customer service, and will acquire tools to develop and support a culture of service, including a bibliography of critical resource material and helpful ideas, Morse said.
“Many companies sacrifice certain things to make a profit,” he said. “At Chimney Rock Park, we believed that great service leads to great long-term business.”
Morse will discuss the steps needed to create a culture of service, including vision, mission and values; hiring the right people; communication; supporting employees; cost-effective rewards and recognition programs; and ways to have fun.
“Since 1986, Todd Morse implemented many innovative programs, which all have contributed to a service culture based on respect, responsibility, community and fun,” said Bobby Hensley, associate director of continuing education at WCU. “As a result, park attendance has more than tripled and revenues have grown six-fold since then, supporting the merits of Morse’s philosophy that employees who are honored and appreciated will deliver outstanding customer service.”
Registration for the seminar is $49, or $10 for currently enrolled WCU students. Lunch is included.
Preregistration is required. Online registration is available at http://learn.wcu.edu.
