Who am I?
Growing up in North Carolina, I was fortunate to be a product of the state’s public school system and one of the 16 constituent University of North Carolina institutions. College provided me with the opportunity to branch out and explore various interests as well as become involved in the greater, global community. One interest that intrigued me most was higher education and American public schooling – an interest that led to a change in my career goals and the pursuit of a major in journalism and mass communication, a concentration better tailored to future graduate studies in education administration.
Why Western?
Two words – access and affordability…. Western provides college students access to a first-rate academic curricula at an extremely affordable price. In fact, WCU was recently recognized by U.S. News and World Report in the “great schools; great prices" category. Having been the product of a first-generation college and later transfer student, I can appreciate the university’s dedication to creating a student friendly transfer admission process. With WCU’s commitment to providing a private school education at a public school price, it’s no wonder that so many students have already chosen to study in western N.C.’s beautiful village of Cullowhee – but don’t just take my word for it, visit campus, talk with our students and experience Western for yourself - it’s a decision you won’t regret!
