Getting Published

Writer’s Market.

Ulrich's Periodicals Directory.
Provides comprehensive and authoritative information on serials (magazines, newspapers, journals, and even some zines) published worldwide. Allows you to browse by subject and gives basic information about each periodical along with web address and contact information.

Oxford English Dictionary.
Contains the complete text of the OED twenty-volume print edition. Each dictionary entry provides a definition, etymology, pronunciation, variant spellings, quotations, and a date chart. Sign up for the word of the day (by email or RSS feed).

Oxford Reference Online: Premium Collection.
Provides authoritative information from over 100 dictionary, encyclopedia, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press.

These guides provide grammar, usage, and other good advice for writers. For citation style guides, see the Writing Center's website, or the appropriate manual for the citation style you are using (i.e. MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers WCU REF DESK   LB2369 .G53 2003 ) 

Bartleby's English Usage, Style and Composition Database.
American Heritage Book of English Usage. 1996; The Columbia Guide to Standard American English, 1993; and The Elements of Style. Search by keyword.

The Blue Book of Grammar and Punctuation.
A quick overview of basic rules with examples. Website also has a blog, http://data.grammarbook.com/blog, which discusses grammar-related issues (e.g, good vs. well, fewer vs. less).
