WCU is a University of North Carolina Campus
Living in Honors

Honors students attend a cookout at the beginning of the academic year

The greatest advantage of being in The Honors College is the community of some 1,400 high-achieving students who care about what they are doing at WCU, whatever major, research, creative work, or other activities they enjoy. Social life in the College is recorded in the Honors Yearbook.

Home to some 300 students and the center for most Honors social activities, Reynolds Hall has been The Honors College residence since 1997.

Buchanan Hall, which houses both Honors and non-Honors students has the reputation of being the quietest hall on campus.

The future home for The Honors College, located at the center of campus with room for 800 students, is planned to open the spring of 2009.

Off-campus, with places like Asheville, Cherokee, Dillsboro, Highlands, the Nantahala Outdoor Center, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park nearby, you will find everything from unique shopping to a huge variety of outdoor sports. Closer to home, Sylva has what you need and every day there are on-campus activities, including  intramural sports and cultural activities at the Fine and Performing Arts Center and the Ramsey Center.
